notes from the fox (email sign-up)

When you enter your email in the form, I store your email address, the language of the page (Croatian or English) and the page you signed up on. The sign-up only counts once you confirm it with the link in the email you get. You get one email when the new site launches, then the occasional notes from the fox.

• Legal basis: your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).
• Who handles it: the list lives in Kit (Kit / ConvertKit LLC, USA), which sends the emails on my behalf. Kit also records whether an email was opened and whether a link was clicked.
• How long: until you unsubscribe (there's a link in every email) or ask me to delete you.

Cookie-free visit counting (Umami)

I count visits with Umami, which runs on my own server. It uses no cookies and doesn't store your IP address or anything that could identify you. I only see totals: which pages were visited, where visits came from, the type of device and browser, and the country.

• Legal basis: legitimate interest in knowing whether the site is used (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

Google Analytics (only if you agree)

If you click “Accept” in the cookie notice, the site loads Google Analytics (Google Ireland Ltd. and Google LLC). It sets the cookies _ga and _ga_… (up to 2 years) and sends Google data about the visit: which pages you look at and for how long, your device, browser and approximate location. Google Analytics doesn't store your IP address. The data is kept for up to 14 months.

If you click “Decline” or don't choose, Google Analytics isn't loaded at all. You can change your mind any time with the Cookies link in the footer; withdrawing consent deletes the cookies. Your choice is remembered only by your browser (local storage, not a cookie) and isn't sent anywhere.

When you email me

If you email me, I use your address and what you write only to reply and for the work we're discussing. Email arrives through Zoho Mail (servers in the EU). I keep it for as long as we work together and as long as the law requires (e.g. for invoices).

• Legal basis: preparing and performing a contract, and legitimate interest in replying (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) and (f)).

Server

The site runs on a DigitalOcean server in Frankfurt, Germany. Fonts load from the same server, not from Google. The server doesn't keep logs of who visited.

Transfers to the USA

Kit and Google may process data in the USA, with the safeguards GDPR requires (the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses). I don't sell your data or use it for ads.

Your rights

You can ask to see your data, correct it, delete it, restrict its use or get a copy, and you can object to its use. You can withdraw consent any time (that doesn't change anything that happened before). Just email mia@cleverfoxdesign.hr. If you think something's wrong with how your data is handled, you can also complain to the Croatian data protection authority, AZOP (Agencija za zaštitu osobnih podataka), Selska cesta 136, 10000 Zagreb, azop.hr.

When the site gets something new (a contact form, for example), I'll add it here and change the date above.
